How the solution works

 A connected worker relies on a rugged ET401 Tablet syncing in real-time with the Warehouse Management System (WMS) to isolate defective rims. Guided by RFID location data, the tablet displays precise containment instructions to ensure faulty components do not reach the active production line.

The process begins on the line where the 3S Series High-Resolution 3D Sensor scans components as they pass. Using advanced machine vision capabilities, it instantly detects consecutive rim defects and flags the anomaly. This camera provides the precise imaging required to quickly identify the specific supplier batch associated with the recurring structural flaw, acting as the ideal initial detection point.

Locate and contain affected rims

Identifying a recurring defect on a production line is only the first step in quality control; the real challenge is rapidly locating and containing the affected batch of parts before they are assembled or shipped. After the recurring defect is identified on the line, warehouse teams use ATR7000 overhead RFID readers to find and contain the affected batch of rims before more parts reach production. This RFID reader helps pinpoint the exact location of the affected batch, letting workers go directly to the defective rims instead of searching the entire warehouse.

Pallets of replacement automotive components pass through a Zebra RFID portal at the receiving dock. The portal automatically reads every tagged asset through the packaging, logging the correct replacement parts into the inventory system and preventing the wrong items from re-entering production.

The ET401 Tablet displays batch details, location information, and containment instructions.
