The Career Center at Stony Brook oversees the DPLN program and collaborates with numerous industry partners to provide students with a mentor, prepare them for life after college and offer practical career guidance and leadership training. The program is a year-long credit bearing externship opportunity designed for traditionally underrepresented minority students, serving as a pipeline for them to secure an internship, full-time job, or prepare for graduate school. It also connects students with organizations like Zebra — and people like Froehlich — committed to diversity recruitment.

Dixon said Froehlich’s efforts have made him a “champion for diversity, a champion for Stony Brook’s underrepresented students, a champion for women in technology and engineering. And it matters.”
