General Cavi Boosts Warehouse Productivity

Zebra’s TC8000 touch mobile computers help to ensure full product traceability and enhance warehouse quality control.

MILAN, Italy – Nov. 12, 2018 – Zebra Technologies Corporation  (NASDAQ: ZBRA), an innovator at the edge of the enterprise with solutions and partners that enable businesses to gain a performance edge, announced that General Cavi S.p.A (‘General Cavi’) has deployed TC8000 Android-based touch mobile computers to track finished goods through six of its finished-product warehouses; from incoming product, storage, internal stock movements and inventory to picking and dispatch. This deployment has increased efficiency and productivity by up to 15 percent, while also enhancing overall warehouse quality control.

General Cavi, a specialist Italian manufacturer dedicated to the design, manufacturing and sale of a wide variety of cable and wire products for electrical conductors and products, recently updated its Warehouse Management Software (WMS) and wanted to deploy the latest futureproof Android devices to help meet its diverse customer and technology needs.

“We pride ourselves on being technology innovators to ensure our clients get the best possible service and products,” said Pierluigi Zangrillo, EDP Manager, General Cavi. “Working in close collaboration with our partner Bancolini Symbol srl (‘Bancolini’), we are the first company in Italy to deploy Zebra’s TC8000 mobile computer. Our teams have adopted the device very easily, because it’s designed with them in mind. Its Android operating system, wireless connectivity, web browser and processing speeds are all excellent.”

Supported by Bancolini, a long-standing Zebra® partner, this technology migration from legacy devices to the new TC8000 has been simultaneous and seamless. This has helped General Cavi increase its performance edge by saving approximately one hour per worker each day and reducing the number of devices needed in the six finished product warehouses owned by the client. Consequently, General Cavi’ company has now started to integrate the TC8000 in its pre-production warehouses.

“The TC8000 has revolutionized the design of General Cavi’s warehousing solutions, enabling far more efficiency in its daily operations,” said Ugo Mastracchio, Sales Engineer Manager, Zebra Technologies. “The productivity increase reported by General Cavi reflects our commitment to building products with customer needs at the heart of their design.”

  • Zebra’s TC8000 mobile computer deployment has helped drive productivity and efficiencies in its client’s warehouse operations by up to 15 percent.
  • Android-based Warehouse Management Software update has reduced goods management devices on each warehouse floor.
  • Following the deployment’s success, General Cavi is also integrating its TC8000s in its pre-production raw materials warehouses.
