Ninja Van Malaysia has grown into one of Malaysia's fastest-growing tech-enabled logistics providers, serving close to 25 million parcel recipients across 100% of the country. Today, the network spans close to 10,000 employees with more than 200 hubs.
Ninja Van Malaysia’s goal was to deliver an exceptional warehouse operations experience that enabled a fast-growing, multi-client fulfilment operation to keep pace with high order volumes, diverse client requirements, and time-critical dispatch schedules.
Consumers expect every order to arrive fast. That’s nothing new. What is new is the pressure that warehouses in Southeast Asia are facing—pressure that simply didn’t exist 10 years ago. The region’s consumers are now shopping online at unprecedented scale, driven by rapid digital adoption. According to the e-Conomy SEA report by Google, Temasek, and Bain & Company, around 3 in 5 consumers shop online today—creating new opportunities across the region.
Ninja Van Malaysia was built for exactly this kind of demand. Founded in 2015 with a clear ambition—to connect all Southeast Asia and provide hassle-free delivery for anyone in the region—the company has grown into one of Malaysia's fastest-growing tech-enabled logistics providers, serving close to 25 million parcel recipients across 100% of the country. Today, the network spans close to 10,000 employees with more than 200 hubs, the largest covering over 24,000 square metres.
As Ninja Van Malaysia scaled its warehousing business to serve both e-commerce and B2B clients, the complexity of its fulfilment operations grew with it. Each client brought its own requirements: different picking methods, packing standards, labelling rules, and delivery commitments. Managing all of this simultaneously across multiple order cycles a day left little room for error. It was clear that the right technology on the warehouse floor would be critical to getting it right.
The previous warehouse management system (WMS) struggled to keep pace with peak and high-volume demand, leading to costly reconciliation work when tasks went missing mid-flow. To consolidate complex, high-volume fulfilment workflows onto a single platform, the company implemented AC2 Wave WMS, an enterprise-grade, cloud-native system that delivers real-time visibility and precise execution control across inventory and order flows. To support this, Ninja Van Malaysia turned to Zebra for reliable mobile computing, enabling efficient and seamless operations on the warehouse floor.
With faster scanning and a system that keeps everything flowing seamlessly, our operations are now smoother, more efficient, and truly exceptional.
For Ninja Van Malaysia, Zebra was a clear choice. The team was already familiar and had experienced success with the Zebra ZD200 Series desktop label printers deployed in its facilities. The ZD200 Series was durable for warehouse conditions, and its dual printing capability—direct thermal and thermal transfer—proved especially valuable for meeting various needs, from short-lifecycle labels to those requiring high durability without any compromise.
When consulting its technology partner AC2 and other industry peers, the feedback was consistent. “Simply put, it’s like comparing a high-end smartphone to a budget one. On paper, the specifications may look the same. But, in reality, the processing efficiency is different,” describes Tzi Zhao Lee, Director of Supply Chain and Partnerships at Ninja Van Malaysia.
With that in mind, the company brought in Zebra TC2 Series Mobile Computers to its warehouses. Its implementation was simple and straightforward. “It was basically power up and go,” Lee says. With help from the AC2 team, Ninja Van Malaysia was able to optimize its warehouse workflows, with the system design tailored to match its layout and operational flows. He adds, “The support from AC2 was great. Their team has deep domain knowledge of warehouse operations and is well-versed in the devices, ensuring the mobile computers were set up correctly and securely.” Complementing the technology, the team chose Zebra OneCare™ support, which handles device management, maintenance, and rapid replacement should anything go wrong.
Ninja Van Malaysia found Zebra to be a great fit into warehouse operators’ existing workflow—they grab a Zebra TC2 mobile computer from a docking station and proceed with their assigned tasks, with the system guiding every step through the device, ensuring accurate and consistent execution. "The large screen makes everything very clear to follow. Once you log in, you can see all your task details, including the order, quantity, and location," shares Lee. Operators then carry picked items to the packing station, where they scan, pack, and automatically label each parcel before sending it to dispatch.
The combined strengths of Zebra and AC2 Wave WMS brought a noticeable improvement in speed across warehouse operations. Previously, operations sometimes struggled with barcode detection, forcing operators to scan multiple times and often wait for the system to respond during peak periods, whereas the TC2 reads instantly, supported by the fast system response of AC2 Wave WMS. "The old device would probably take about half a second to reflect a scan; the Zebra device takes roughly half of that," notes Lee. "When you multiply that across a few thousand orders with tens of thousands of items, combined with a system that keeps everything moving, it makes a real difference."
Accuracy and reliability have been equally consistent. "If the barcode is 1234, it always reads 1234. One scan always captures what we need to capture," shares Lee. "That reliability means the data feeding into the system is clean and immediate."
Performance remains consistent even during high-intensity scanning sessions. "A fast operator can do 30 to 60 scans per minute. While other devices usually slow down at this point, Zebra works seamlessly all the way through, even at that volume," he adds. The solution has also proven robust in day-to-day operations too, requiring little intervention. "I can now spend less time at the warehouse troubleshooting, as things take care of themselves," Lee shares.
The Android™ operating system running on the TC2 also provides added flexibility. “At times, we need to log into our Google account to use Google Workspace. With the Zebra devices, there’s no lag. They’re not limited to just the WMS—we run other applications as well, and we’ve had no issues.”
Warehouse staff have noticed the difference, too. "Imagine you're a warehouse operator with a very heavy workload every day," shares Lee. "With faster scanning and a system that keeps everything flowing seamlessly, our operations are now smoother, more efficient, and truly exceptional. Instead of waiting for the system to catch up on every single scan, things just move. There is less frustration, people are happier, and because everything is flowing, they keep their momentum going throughout the shift. It is not something you can easily put a number on, but for me, that is a tangible difference."
With faster fulfilment speed and more reliability comes more satisfied customers. “Our job is to deliver reliable logistic services. Instead of facing missed deadlines and delayed deliveries, we now hear no complaints from customers—that shows we’re doing our job well,” says Lee.
With plans to expand its Zebra device deployment to additional operational zones and future fulfilment sites, Ninja Van Malaysia is only getting started. What began as a search for faster, more reliable warehouse technology has quietly transformed the rhythm of daily operations—fewer interruptions, steadier momentum, and a floor team that simply gets on with it. In a business built on the promise of hassle-free delivery, that ease has a way of reaching all the way to the customer's door.
