Hasenauer+Koch Improves Efficiencies for Local Deliveries with Zebra Technologies

German logistics company equips its drivers with easy-to-use solution on Zebra rugged mobile computers

REUTLINGEN, Germany – Nov. 8, 2022 – Zebra Technologies Corporation (NASDAQ: ZBRA), an innovator at the front line of business with solutions and partners that deliver a performance edge, today announced that Hasenauer+Koch has adopted the TISLOG Android™ order fulfilment solution on Zebra rugged mobile computers to help implement effective local delivery management.

Headquartered in Reutlingen, Germany, Hasenauer+Koch has been in the logistics business for more than 160 years and has 250+ employees. The company ships more than 1 million cubic meters of volume annually across groupage and individual orders to businesses and consumers.

Hasenauer+Koch needed a new Android mobile device solution to increase its efficiency. Previously, its drivers had to use up to three different devices to manage deliveries including an in-vehicle phone, a navigation system and a barcode scanner. Additionally, its technology advisor Technische Informationssysteme GmbH (TIS) had ported its TISLOG software to the Android platform to provide an updated delivery management system.

After on-site testing of a range of mobile devices by Hasenauer+Koch’s drivers, the company chose to implement Zebra TC57 handheld computers into its operations as a durable, productive solution for its staff, assigning TC57s to the drivers of each of its 45 local delivery trucks.

“We’ve worked with Zebra devices and TIS for a long time, but this latest Android deployment is delivering a whole new level when it comes to stability, scanning and processing speeds,” said Andreas Vatter, Head of IT, Hasenauer+Koch GmbH + Co. KG. “The system is flexible and scalable, so we’ve been able to tailor it to meet our exact work processes. And the excellent support and service we receive from TIS and Zebra ensures maximum device availability. It means we can just get on with our operations, knowing we can rely on our systems. That’s so important in our business.”

Each Hasenauer+Koch driver picks up their device from the charging cradle on arrival at the depot, using the TISLOG mobile warehouse handling module to load their vehicles. They scan every package and note any damages using TC57 advanced scanning technology and PRZM Intelligent Imaging. These tools deliver fast capture of printed and electronic 1D and 2D barcodes, including Digimarc—regardless of condition.

The TISLOG local delivery management module sets a dynamic, intelligent delivery and pick-up schedule detailing addresses and optimal routes based on current traffic conditions, utilising TC57’s support for locationing technologies including GPS, Bluetooth 5.0 BLE and WiFi.

Hasenauer+Koch can now offer contactless delivery, with photos, which are included on the delivery receipt, replacing on-screen signatures using the TC57 13 MP colour rear camera for capturing highly detailed photos and videos. All collected data, as well as GPS and consignment statuses, are conveniently and securely transmitted in real time to the head office for full visibility and order processing.

Drivers can use their TC57 for everything, eliminating the need for multiple devices. As well as built-in data capture technology and locationing support, the device also features SIM cards and Bluetooth® headsets with microphones, high-volume speakers and noise-cancellation technology for driver communications.

Drivers are supported with a wide range of accessories, mobile device management and support services, even on the move. With Zebra’s StageNow utility, each device is easily prepared with the right software and applications by scanning a barcode. And, with a comprehensive Zebra OneCare™ Select Maintenance Plan in place for support, drivers are assured of optimal uptime from their mobile devices.

“Our collaboration with TIS enables us to deliver a leading logistics solution tailored to driver usability and convenience,” said Daniel Dombach, Director of Industry Solutions EMEA, Zebra Technologies. “This helps transportation businesses like Hasenauer+Koch to elevate their driver efficiencies through more reliable and streamlined operations, resulting in faster service.”

The features of the robust mobile computing device combined with the durability of the rugged handhelds have helped Hasenauer+Koch improve time savings, driver productivity and delivery efficiency. Together, these benefits add considerable value to Hasenauer+Koch’s current operations and provide a digitalised process that can lead to continued growth in the future.
