Campaign seeks to encourage 325,000 people to make blood donation appointments this June
LINCOLNSHIRE, Ill. – June 11, 2019 – Zebra Technologies Corporation (NASDAQ: ZBRA), an innovator at the edge of the enterprise with solutions and partners that enable businesses to gain a performance edge, is proud to support the American Red Cross on the Missing Types campaign to increase blood donations and encourage individuals to make an appointment to give blood this summer.
From June 11-30, Zebra will join the Red Cross and other companies, organizations, brands and individuals to remove the letters A, B and O – the letters that make up the main blood groups – from their logos and public-facing messaging. When those letters disappear, you notice. And when A, B, O and AB blood types are missing from hospital shelves, patient care may be impacted.
The American Red Cross and its partners are working together to encourage 325,000 people across the United States to make an appointment to donate blood. According to the Red Cross, only about 3% of the U.S. population donates blood.
Zebra will help raise awareness through its Your Edge blog, social media channels, website and blood drives hosted at various locations throughout June and July. Zebra is committed to serving the community and has previously worked with the American Red Cross to support disaster relief efforts through cash donations and kit packing events.
